Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company was established as an independent corporate entity in 1988, but became operational in 1990 when it was weaned from being a department of the Lusaka City Council and transformed into a private limited liability company. The company supplies water and provides sewerage services to about two million people in the capital Lusaka. There are two main sources of water production : surface from Kafue River and ground water from boreholes.
