Water Level on top
Water may be easily available as it occurs naturally through rain. But that may not be enough. It must be purified, stored transported and distributed to consumers. But who is responsible for providing this water and the associated sewerage services? Who plans for the future, how does our water end up in our taps and how are such operations financed?

These are some of the questions you our customers ask about Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company and this website provides answers in summary form to these and other information often requested regarding the company.

Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company was established as an independent corporate entity in 1988, but became operational in 1990 when it was weaned from being a department of the Lusaka City Council and transformed into a private limited liability company. The company supplies water and provides sewerage services to about two million people in the capital Lusaka. There are two main sources of water production : surface from Kafue River and ground water from boreholes
